IQBar Update – The Bett Show & What to Expect in 2019
The Bett Show 2019
Last week IQBar once again attended the Bett Show held in London. The four-day event is the perfect opportunity for educators and technology developers to get together and explore the most up-to-date and engaging methods in education.
We were particularly impressed with the displays in the FS Section this year. Consisting of education and technology start-ups, there were hundreds of new and innovative teaching projects and solutions – many which we hope to incorporate into our platform in the coming year. We can’t give too much away at this stage, but some partnerships in discussion include an integrated online library with hundreds of reading materials for Breadies across levels, an integrated video library and a games collection.
The e-book and video library will overtake our current extension and video resources and will be easily accessible through the classroom as well as via our website outside of class time. Resources for Breadies outside class time is something we’re really focusing on this year, offering a well-rounded education platform that covers teaching hours from our excellent Buddies and more.
This is part of our wider vision to grow as a company into more than just an online English Language tutoring website, but into a rounded online school, covering not only ESL, but history, science, maths, literature and writing practise and more. You may have seen in recent days an increase in Breadies looking for sessions to do with writing, reading and subject practice. This is just the beginning of what is to come!
To begin the expansion of Bready resources, we are currently in the process of developing an app for Breadies. This will make it much easier to book sessions and get reminders via the phone app rather than having to log into the website.
We are also in the very early stages of developing an online social media platform for Breadies and Buddies. If Buddies would like to introduce elements of their day-to-day life to Breadies, or what life is like where they live, Breadies can see through the safe space of the social network and can find out about other cultures and their teachers and vice-versa.
This Chinese New Year of the Pig – a year associated with prosperity and fittingly, we are introducing a number of new roles at IQBar as we see an increase in Breadies. We are currently on the look-out for someone to record Bready seminars for us. IQBar will be creating a library of seminars on particular themes for Breadies to watch outside of class.
We are asking for auditions now, if you are interested in finding out more about this role, please contact Sarah on Wechat!
We are also excited to soon announce the new members of our Mock Session team.
New regulations in China
You will have seen by now the new regulations set by China surrounding online education in China. If you would like a recap on what’s happening, you can read our recent blog post here.
The latest update is the need for a yearly criminal record check. If you don’t have a current record check, you will need to apply for one via https://www.gov.uk/request-copy-criminal-record for UK based Buddies.
Here is more information for SA Buddies: https://www.saps.gov.za/services/applying_clearence_certificate.php
The deadline to submit these will be 28th February.
