What does it mean to be a teacher? In this blog, for World Teachers’ Day, we reflect and share some of our Buddies thoughts.

World Teachers’ Day, also known as International Teachers Day, is a celebration held on 5th October. It has been an annual event since 1994 to commemorate the signing of the UNESCO/ILO Recommendation concerning the Status of Teachers.

World Teachers’ Day aims to focus on “appreciating, assessing and improving the educators of the world” and to provide an opportunity to consider issues related to teachers and teaching.

In 2020, World Teachers’ Day celebrates the theme “Teachers: Leading in crisis, reimagining the future”. Here at IQBar, to celebrate we asked our Buddies to give us their favourite quotes, thoughts, and reflections about education. Here is what they had to say:

One of the quotes that have resonated for me was, “ a good teacher is like a candle, it consumes itself to light the way for others”… I don’t remember where I read this quote, but it’s always stuck with me to this day.

Sasha Tsitsi

Quote from the iconic Nelson Mandela. He said, ‘Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to save the world’. I strongly believe this too and to be on the teaching side is a very rewarding and important position to be in.

Being a teacher is more about just cramming people full of facts. It is the difference you make to someone’s life. We teach people to value learning and the wider world.

It may not be easy all the time, but it truly is a blessing to be a part of a child’s growth and development. We impact each other’s lives more than we may realize.

We are incredibly lucky at IQBar to have so many excellent and inspiring Buddies. Buddies who are enthusiastic and passionate about teaching and who are always willing to go the extra mile for our Breadies. We pride ourselves in providing our Buddies with as many opportunities to grow and develop as educators. They are already amazing but with our professional development seminars, they can refine their teaching skills even more. For those wanting to extend their skill set, there are always additional roles being created to help the company grow. We now have Buddies who not only teach but are helping with course development, video editing, animations, and much more.

We would like to take this opportunity on World Teachers’ Day to thank all of our Buddies for your hard work, flexibility, and continued enthusiasm during the current global pandemic.

We would like to know what has inspired you to become or want to be a teacher. Let us know on our Facebook page:
